PART-TIME FAIR HOUSING TESTER POSITIONS
Westchester Residential Opportunities, Inc. (WRO), a non-profit housing counseling agency which has been protecting Westchester County residents for over 40 years by advocating with the community for fair, affordable and safe housing for all, is seeking individuals to serve as Fair Housing Testers in our Fair Housing Program. If selected, these individuals would be expected to work on an “as needed” basis at a rate of $11 per hour.
Qualifications:
- Good verbal and written skills
- Respect for confidentiality
- Clean record (no felony or fraud convictions)
- Cell phone
- Must attend paid training session
- Must be reliable
- Ability to follow instructions, follow through
- Ability to write a report
- Responsibly maintain communication
- Honesty and objectivity
Training sessions have been scheduled at various times each month beginning in July 2011. These sessions will take place at the WRO offices located at 470 Mamaroneck Avenue, Suite 410, White Plains, New York 10605. CONSULTANT POSITION
Green Job Green New York Outreach Coordinator
21 hours per week
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
-Partner with local Westchester, Rockland and Putnam County agencies/organizations to conduct outreach and increase awareness of NYSERDA programs and incentives.
-Should have a working knowledge of NYSERDA’s Residential programs, to include Green Jobs Green NY, Home Performance with ENERGY STAR, Assisted Home Performance, and EmPower.
- Position requires participation in evening and weekend events, successful candidate must be flexible in terms of work schedule.
- Knowledge and background in environmental issues or other related issue advocacy.
- General knowledge of power markets.
- An interest in the environment and a commitment to reducing energy use.
- Familiarity with the region and have experience working with city officials and/or knowledge of city initiatives in sustainability issues preferred.
- Have some familiarity with (or ability to learn quickly) New York state and municipal
legislative and regulatory organization and process.
- Background in building science, residential/commercial energy efficiency and/or
renewable energy.
- Foreign language fluency a plus. ++++
Minimum Educational Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, natural or environmental
science, engineering, architecture, planning or related discipline, or
- An Associate’s degree plus five years of relevant experience as described above.
