HOUSING Agency Information First-Time Homebuyer Counseling and Education Program |
Our MissionWestchester Residential Opportunities, Inc. (WRO) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote equal, affordable and accessible housing opportunities for all residents of our region.Founded in 1968 as a non-profit housing agency, WRO champions the expansion of non-discriminatory housing opportunities for low- and moderate-income people in Westchester County, minorities, senior citizens, and the psychiatrically disabled. WRO is a HUD-certified Housing Counseling agency, a licensed real estate broker, and a United Way agency. All of WRO’s housing services for consumers are free, and are funded by government grants, private contributions, and corporate support. WRO collaborated with other agencies to reach individuals who can benefit from its services. WRO works with Realtors, managing agents, and landlords to ensure that fair housing laws are followed and with banks and other lenders to ensure that fair lending procedures are practiced. Services are provided by WRO's trained and experienced counselors in person, by telephone or e-mail. MORTGAGE DEFAULT INTAKE PACKETDownload the Mortgage Default Intake Packet PLEASE NOTE: All packets are to be submitted to Judith Capote, Intake Coordinator “RECOMMENDED” MORTGAGE DEFAULT ORIENTATION SESSIONSWe HIGHLY RECOMMEND that all interested applicants that are identified as the mortgagee attend a “Mortgage Default Orientation Session.” This session will provide an overview of the process and help you to understand the potential options and type of assistance we provide as well as what the mortgage industry is saying during this time of crisis. Attend our Mortgage Default Orientation Sessions to learn about the process and have an opportunity for Q&A with a counselor!! Sessions are offered every Tuesday at our White Plains office.* Hours: 3 options below
*It’s important that you RSVP your attendance. This is in the event of a holiday or a change in scheduling on our end. Don’t hesitate to call if you have any questions. REQUIRED FINANCIAL LITERACY WORKSHOPSUpon receiving services, we REQUIRE that over the next 12 months you attend SEVERAL financial literacy workshops. These workshops are offered monthly IN THE EVENING and are facilitated out of our Yonkers office. For schedule and additional details speak with your Counselor or check our seminar schedule.
